Strengthening Civic Advocacy Through Filmmaking
Nigeria is the world's second largest film market after Hollywood giving the number of titles it produces yearly. Through such platforms as M-Net, Iroko, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon and others, Nigerian films have gained so much mileage on the international scene, however, despite its export potential projected to be $1 billion per annum (Economic Recovery and Growth plan of the Federal Government of Nigeria, 2020, p.64), the less is told of stories advocating to solve the various humanitarian crisis plaguing the giant of Africa. It is in line with these aspirations that Media For Humanitarian Development Initiative designed and is set to implement the project SCAF across the six Geo-political zones and the entire Sub-Saharan Africa, as a launch pad for budding content creators and professional filmmakers from different filmmaking groups across the nation, backed by the Nigerian Government and strengthened by Multilateral and Bilateral partners for empowerment to tell indigenous stories aimed at solving various humanitarian crisis.
